Kostas Manolas is a player Chelsea have been monitoring for over a year and they considered an offer last summer. He was Chelsea’s first choice for this transfer window until Jose Mourinho left and the impression we get is that the new coach, Antonio Conte, would prefer Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus if that was at all possible with Manolas as their next option.
Manchester United also like Manolas. Now Mourinho is there it makes sense that he will look to bring in a more dominant centre-back while his age, 24, is also more in keeping with the profile of player United would prefer to sign.
Kalidou Koulibaly has been watched too by scouts from Arsenal, Chelsea, United, West Ham and Everton. He has had a strong season is quick and powerful so would be well suited to the Premier League but the feedback is that he also has a mistake in him every game. Some clubs may not be willing to gamble on that.

Is there something really true in reading that Chelsea wants to do the ” shopping ” among Roma players ? Besides Manolas, many people write and talk about Nainggolan and Rudiger? Are these news only rumors?
C’è qualcosa di vero nel leggere che il Chelsea vuole fare la “spesa” tra i giocatori della Roma? Oltre a Manolas, in molti scrivono e parlano di un forte interessamento per Nainggolan ed anche per Rudiger. Sono solo voci di mercato?
They are not just rumours, sadly for Roma fans, Chelsea really like Nainggolan and hope to sign him. They didn’t expect to pay the price being quoted but they remain confident of convincing Roma to sell and Nainggolan to come for around £35million. Rudiger is a good player who has again been watched by Chelsea and several other Premier League clubs but he’s not high on their list of priorities at this stage.
Purtroppo per i tifosi della Roma queste non sono solo voci. Nainggolan piace molto al Chelsea e sperano che lui possa firmare. Non pensano di pagare il prezzo citato ma sono fiduciosi di convincere la Roma a vendere il giocatore ad una cifra di 35 milioni. Rudiger è un buon giocatore ed è stato visionato sia dal Chelsea che da altri club della Premier ma al momento non è la loro priorità.

Una domanda su Antonio Conte: è stata lui la prima scelta per il Chelsea oppure erano stati cercati altri allenatori prima di lui, ad esempio Simeone?
Many believed Pep Guardiola was first choice but Manchester City were well down the line with negotiations already. Diego Simeone was discussed too but he doesn’t speak English and has a very strong attachment to Atletico. Conte also plays his football a bit more expansively which is what Roman Abramovich would prefer Chelsea to play.
It is an eagerly anticipated season here in England. Many want to see how Conte fares against Mourinho, Guardiola, Klopp and Pochettino. There will be a lot of focus here on how Italy play in Euro 2016 to see if there are early indications to the style he will adapt at Chelsea.
Molti pensavano che la prima scelta fosse Pep Guardiola ma il Manchester City era già molto avanti con la trattativa. Diego Simeone è stato trattato ma è molto attaccato all’Atletico (Madrid – ndr) e non parla inglese. Conte gioca un calcio più offensivo e questo piace a Roman Abramovich. La prossima stagione è molto attesa in Inghilterra. Molti vogliono vedere come Conte affronterà Mourinho, Guardiola, Klopp e Pochettino.
In molti qui guarderanno l’Italia giocare gli Europei per vedere se ci sono le prime indicazioni su come giocherà il Chelsea.
