Last night we were here to witness one of the worst played by Roma in recent years. No heart, no soul, a team in deep crisis, unable to make a decent pass or create a decent chance.
It was a piece of cake for Milan, a easy win for anyone, even Benevento could have taken 3 points last night. Try to find the problem or a culprit is not easy. Is the coach? Is it the system? Or is it the players? or a weak club management behind the scenes? Or a combination of all these factors? Nobody knows..
Under Di Francesco Roma have kept the pace in the league until December. And managed to qualify for the Champions League in the last 16 against all odds, playing some exciting football at times. What happened since then? This is another team alltogether, no longer able to create chances, to play football and score goals apart from beating minnow Benevento and Verona.
Something has broken up inside the dressing rooms? Are the players still following the coach? Or they are just an average side after all? What we saw against Shakhtar in the first half was promising, but then the second half was shambolic, last night even worse. Roma has it for 45mins just about, then plunges in total darkness.
Nevertheless full credit to Milan to exploit the situation. Now, a reality check is required by the coach, the players and the management. They need to face each other to find the cure, if exist. Napoli is next, then Champions League again soon, no way we are going to grab any positive results if this is the approach.
Nainnggolan, Strootman, Dzeko, De Rossi, the leaders of this side must realize we are at the last resort. Like the rest they aren’t performing, it’s in or out. We are the fans, always there. As, always, Forza Roma!
