Roma are back to winning ways against newly promoted Crotone FC. 4-0 the final score. A feast, as expected. Although it was never really a contest, there were some scary moments in defense at the very beginning of the match and, at the very end of the match, as the coach pointed out.
The usual lack of concentration that you might get away against a team like Crotone. Not against better teams. Likewise, very unlikely Luciano Spalletti will field the same attacking team against Torino next Sunday or when we face Inter Milan the following week. This display paid off with the Pharaoh and Mo Salah quite active on the wings, and with Captain Totti again inspired to launch Dzeko upfront.
The bosnian showed character this time by scoring two goals. The captain delivered some great passes, as usual. He made a beautiful one for Edin to do great lob.
The partnership worked well, the team played well. Yet, we were playing Crotone, not Real Madrid. It’s a win but still against the worst team in Serie A, nearly unpresentable at this level. Roma must show the same gameplay and character all the time. Dzeko must show he can score goals like these against the biggest teams. The final scoreline is great news but we kind of expected that. It’s time to move and climb up the ladder.
Next: Roma need to win at Torino, need to make sure we arrive at top form against Inter. They certainly are at the moment, Icardi’s on fire and their confidence is boosted after beating Juve. It will need Roma at its best 100% to perform and get the 6 points. This is the only way to send your warning signal. Roma is here, too.
