Roma 2-2 Inter ‘Spinach’

Leo Spinazzola makes an omelette of what should have been a Roma win. What on earth was he thinking of? Any coach in any football academy would teach you to never ever defend the ball inward but outward from your keeper penalty area.

Yet Spina did exactly that. Not only did he turn inward but also missed the ball to make a clumsy foul on the Inter player. Penalty. Lukaku converts. Pity.

Roma played well, especially in the second half, pushing Inter right at the back. No one can complain about Fonseca’s men performance but one ought to point out that the equaliser came from an evident foul by Kolarov on Lautaro, not even sanctioned at the VAR check.

In the end, pity for the two points lost. Great performances by Dzeko and Michi, the best by far. Not the same can be said about Lorenzo Pellegrini, still the shadow of the player we admired up until February. Ibanez continues to shine at the back, the real revelation in this post lockdown campaign.

Roma can only keep fighting for 5th place but what really matters is the straight match against Sevilla for Europa League on Aug 2. Only 4 games to go to the end of Serie A. All set. Countdown has begun. Forza Roma.
