Regrets for so many chances and no three points in the bag, sure. Equally, on-form Milan can claim a penalty not given and a red card for a Roma player, also not given. The referee didn’t do a great job.
Donnarumma was man of the match, stopping the unstoppable. Roma did well enough to reedeem the shables in Florence, showing character and looking to win the tie. The Rossoneri looked good at containing Roma’s efforts, as well as capitalising the usual hiccups a the back for the Giallorossi.
Piatek’s goal was exceptionally cynical but thanks to Pellegrini and Fazio mis-judgements. Zaniolo was outstanding as usual, quick to equalise, though he decided to curb his enthusiasm fearing a second yellow card. Then Roma were just unlucky with several goal attempts, including Pellegrini’s incredible header to the post.
Positives: Zaniolo, Schick, Karsdorp. Daniele De Rossi’ return was the main difference. Simply outstanding, a real maestro, able to guide the midfield with his leadership and confidence. At the end of the day, nothing really changed; Roma are still a point behind Milan for fourth place. Meanwhile, Inter keeps losing ground, there is the chance to catch up.
Tonight Lazio play Frosinone, the regional Derby. Roma have Chievo next on Friday, Inter play on-form Parma, Milan play Cagliari. Di Francesco must hope to keep up the pressure. Forza Roma!
