Breaking news! Edin Dzeko is back on the score sheet at the Olimpico. Mirante keeps a clean sheet for the second consecutive match. El Sharaawy is man of the match, and not for the first time. Roma grabs three vital points and stays in the race for 4th spot. Claudio eventually sees glimpses of a better team.
Having said that, Milan controversial win against Lazio keeps them one point ahead, the biancocelesti now trail 5 behind but have a game in hand against Udinese on Wednesday. Atalanta are a point behind but they play tonight, a win will put them in front on par with Milan. And surprisingly, Torino are now only 4 points behind us! The race is on!
On the other hand, Inter have nearly secured 3rd place unless Roma will manage to bag the three point next week at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. A tough game. Inter are back to winning ways with Icardi, while Spalletti and Nainggolan would be looking to seek revenge. Roma needs to get a point, at least.
The future of the club will heavily depend on Champions League football, and money, next year. The usual suspects including Franco Baldini are in Boston to meet Jim Pallotta to define the future plans, pity Francesco Totti is not part of the expedition. As previously said, I think Baldini should be eventually sidelined, with Totti Football Director, Ricky Massara Sporting Director or someone else, Ranieri in the boardroom with De Rossi part of the new team management.
Daniele would love to play for another year but I fear his knee problems are going to get worse. We all heard the rumours about Antonio Conte or Maurizio Sarri. I personally regard Conte as as top manager, the ideal man to get Roma to the top again. But I doubt he will accept to manage team to rebuild with no financial resources. At the same time, I belong to romantic football, I would rather have a Romanista or someone with no strings attached, rather than someone with Juve blood running through his veins. But it’s only my point of view. Forza Roma.
