An undeserved defeat. Better than Fiorentina but zero points. Performance was good overall, better than recent ones, at least.
A couple of negative episodes, goal offside and penalty denied, the ref did not help but we denoted the usual limitations. The team is unable to control and finish off, and the replacements on the bench aren’t good enough.
Nainnggolan and Strootman kept sweating in the middle, Manolas was a dyke in defense, and Fazio better that Juan Jesus. Yet, Dzeko is not doing what he should, he’s a tank in attack lacking malice, when this team would rather need one that puts it in the net, even with his knee, a player like Montella or Inzaghi … or Totti?
Bruno Peres and Florenzi ok, well to push on the wing and De Rossi to act as a screen. In the attack, along with Dzeko, Salah and El Sharaawy did not shine. Iturbe is irritating at times. The Captain came on and created the chance for Nainnggolan that hit the post.
Let’s move on. Napoli win means we are on the chase. Inter beat Juve means more teams to watch out for. On Wednesday comes minnow Crotone, then off to Turin to take on the Granatas, we must take 6 points to stay hooked to the league leaders. Hope Spalletti understands the way to go forward.
